A floor cut for movement rather than for uniformity. It needs sorting on site, and the sorting is part of the specification rather than an optional extra.
A floor cut for movement rather than for uniformity. It needs sorting on site, and the sorting is part of the specification rather than an optional extra.
A vein-cut floor is chosen for the way the material moves across the surface, and the price of that is visible in the installation. Vein-cut tiles from one lot will carry a genuine spread in tone and in void pattern, and if they are laid in crate order the floor reads as a patchwork.
So they are delivered mixed, deliberately, and sorted on site. The fitter lays them out, moves them, and builds the layout where the strong movement sits in the traffic line and the quieter pieces go under furniture or at the edges. This takes time and it is not something that can be skipped without the client seeing it.
There is a second decision here that is worth making early. The same vein-cut face can be filled, which reduces the tone spread considerably and makes sorting far quicker, at the cost of the fully open character. For a hotel or an office where the maintenance obligation is the real cost, filled is usually the better decision. For a private house where the floor is the centre of the room, unfilled sorted is the better one.
12-20 working days to FOB for standard forms; cut-to-size and matched sets are quoted per job. Send a thickness, a quantity, a finish and a destination port and you will have an FOB quotation, usually within three working days, with no obligation on a first shipment.
