How this one behaves on site

Paired from a single block so the structure continues across the seam. The pairing is only worth anything if the sawn face is approved before the panels are cut.

Book-matching is the reason this stone is chosen for a feature wall, and it is also the process where buyers most often lose money by moving too early.

The sequence is: the block is sawn and the face is shown to you, you approve that face, and only then are the panels cut from it. Approving a photograph or a small sample does not work, because the continuity that book-matching depends on is a property of the whole sawn face, not of a hand-sized piece. Every batch we have seen fail visually was cut before the face was approved.

Then there is the set size. Two leaves give the mirrored pair. Four gives the wider repeat that a reception wall usually needs. Sets of six and above from a single block get difficult, because the block has to be long enough and consistent enough to carry the pattern that far — we will say so rather than pair across blocks and hope the seam disappears.

Filled matched sets are possible and look good, but the fill reduces the contrast that makes the matching visible, which is a strange reason to pay for book-matching and then fill it. If the point of the set is the pattern, keep it unfilled and maintain it.
