Mono or cut, hollowed from one slab. The construction detail matters more than the finish here.
A stone basin is bought for how it feels and how it looks, and it fails on one specific thing: how it is held.
A mono bowl hollowed from a single slab has no joint in it, which is why it is specified wherever the budget reaches it. The internal surface is one piece of stone, ground and sealed, and there is no seam for water to find. It also means the bowl is limited to what one slab will yield — around 400 mm internal width is the practical ceiling from a standard slab, and larger sizes come from jumbo or from two pieces.
A cut bowl is assembled from sections with a bonded seam. It is perfectly serviceable when the seam is placed on the rear face and the joint is properly bonded and polished through, and it is not serviceable when the seam is rushed. Ask where the seam is before you accept a cut bowl.
Support it properly. These are heavy — a 20 mm mono bowl weighs well over 30 kg filled — and a basin hung off the wall alone will eventually pull away from the fixing. A frame or a properly bracketed carcass carries it.
Filled and sealed inside, always. A basin holds standing water daily; an unfilled bowl would need resealing continuously.
12-20 working days to FOB for standard forms; cut-to-size and matched sets are quoted per job. Send a thickness, a quantity, a finish and a destination port and you will have an FOB quotation, usually within three working days, with no obligation on a first shipment.
