A wet-area format. Filling is not optional here — an unfilled tile in a shower is a tile that stays damp behind the face.
A wet-area format. Filling is not optional here — an unfilled tile in a shower is a tile that stays damp behind the face.
The reason this form is filled is thermal and physical rather than aesthetic. An unfilled tile has connected pores that run from the face into the slab. In a shower, water follows those pores and the back of the tile stays wet for longer than the surface does, which is how a tiled shower floor eventually fails at the grout line or behind the tile rather than on it.
Filling closes those pores. The tile becomes a dense, sealed body, the grout line stays the weak point where it should be, and the maintenance obligation is a damp wipe rather than a sealer cycle.
Specify matte, and specify the slip rating together with the format — a slip rating quoted for one format says nothing about another, because the surface texture and the edge profile change with the format. We quote the rating for the format actually shipped, which is the only number that means anything to whoever signs off the wet-area specification.
12-20 working days to FOB for standard forms; cut-to-size and matched sets are quoted per job. Send a thickness, a quantity, a finish and a destination port and you will have an FOB quotation, usually within three working days, with no obligation on a first shipment.
